Whilst we support the investment of public funds to ensure our children with complex and specialist educational needs can access the care and education they need, the time is over-due for Cheshire East to engage in proper ’invest to save schemes’ to create Safe Walking Routes to School in those areas where children who are able to walk to school, can do so once appropriate pavements and road crossings are put in place to ensure their safety with appropriate adult supervision.
Such routes have already been proposed in various areas across the borough but to date, action has been woefully slow and expensive contracts for coaches persist.
